365 Days ago today I was about to poop my pants with excitement over Indianapolis' first major Professional championship ever. The Indianapolis Colts would knock off I 65 rival the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI.
Since that day in history I have learned 1 thing. There is always next year. So if your team happens to lose remember that next year always rolls around and whatever happened the past year does not matter.
That being said I am not going to tell you who is going to win Super Bowl XLII. Truth is only god knows and truth is he probably has more things to do than worry about football. Arlen Spector (Democrat) from PA on the other hand cares more about football (Eagles) than helping his constituants.
Spy Gate Part Duex
First of all, is anyone suprised? I was so tired of the San Fransico 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys winning during my childhood I could have thrown up. But even with Leon Lett and Michael Irvan those teams had twice the charcter of your current dynasty the New England Patriots. This is just the tip of the iceberg with this team. I have a heck of alot more respect for a team that looses 15 games than I do for the New England Patriots. I will take my one Super Bowl victory for the Colts who always did it the right way than 4 from a team like New England. It is just how I feel. There are win at all cost teams (Indiana Mens Basketball), and there are the New England Patriots.
Roger Godell has his hands full with this one. The commish who suspended Packman Jones for making it rain in a stripclub better get this one right. He needs to not make a snap decision and look at all possibilities, and he needs to come down hard on Bellicheat and Robert Kraft.
Before we discuss the realm of possible punishments for the 2001 New England Patriots lets hit 88 MPH in the Delorean and go back to 2002. I know that it was along time ago but we need to look at the state of the United States during that time period. It was almost 5 months after we had just been attacked as a country. These patriots were not the Patriots all of us despise now. This was an upstart 14 point underdog to the greatest show on turf. There was no Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning. No Colts vs. Pats, this was a country who needed something. The Pats just happened tobe that something. The team had never won a championhip and had an unknown back up QB who was not dating Supermodels, or being Hollywood in any sort of way.
Roger Godell needs to look closely at this, incident. Every fan saw the way he came down on Pacman Jones for something that happened way away from the hashmarks. I do not have any advice for the comish on this one except get it right. He has ruled with an iron fist to this day and he needs to do the same when it comes to on the field discrepencies. The biggest problem with our legal system is not how slow it is. In fact that is the beauty of it. It takes time to get all the facts. It takes time for educated people to make educated decisions on the situation. The best case for this is the Duke Lacrosse case. Anyone with a unbias brain could have seen that those kids were innocent. The story was not adding up. Swift justince as everyone wants is not a good idea. Swift justice would have caused those 3 young men to go through more agony than they already did.
My point is this Mr. Commish. Take your time with this one. Don't jump to conclusions, and when you do the punishment needs to be a dynamic blow to the rest of the NFL. You have to protect the integrety of the game. This incident was before your watch, but the Patriots and the rest NFL that this game needs to be played on a level playing field. The NFL owners deserve this, and the teams that do it right need to be rewarded for winning the right way. Had there been no spygate who knows how many the Colts would have won becuase in my opionion they were the best non cheating team.
As for Pacman Jones. His sentence is up. He needs to be reinstated. He served his year out. No matter what the guy deserves a shot at playing again. That is my opinion there is no point in dragging this out any longer. If you felt his penalty was to short than you should have made it two years. He has served his time. The Pats on the other hand need to be dealt an educated blow to their dynasty.
